How you view yourself matters, and the view equals your self-esteem. Self-esteem is an essential building block for your confidence, sense of worth, and how far you willingly permit yourself to thrive.

What’s so important to understand is that your self-worth and self-esteem are developed through evidence, through your experiences.

We tend to have lower self-esteem when attached to what isn’t working. When we bring ourselves into a place of genuine connection, meaning I can mess up without having to downgrade my worth, we give ourselves the ability to flow with our lives and not keep our emotions hostage only if things work in our favor immediately and without pushback.

Today’s mindset reset comes from Sarah in Michigan. She wrote, “I used to think I had healthy self-esteem, but recently I’ve been questioning myself. I do not feel confident I can do what I want and need. I am constantly comparing myself to others, especially friends in my group. I’m triggered by small mistakes. I feel like I’m failing in every area of my life. When I said this to my mother, she said, ‘Your self-esteem is shot.’ Then, she told me all the ways I needed to stop being hard on myself, which did not help. How do I know if low self-esteem is my problem, and how can I turn it around?
