Emotional self-abandonment happens when you feel neglected, ignored, or dismissed by the significant people in your life, such as a parent, partner, or your closest friend. When the feeling grows large enough, it takes over and leads to feeling alone, inadequate, small, disconnected, lacking self-worth and trust, and many other negatives.
